[Recruiting participants] The new sustainable contest “Rethink Fashion Program” has started! Unprecedented collaboration between shoichi and OIF

Starting in October 2021, Shoichi Co., Ltd., a leading company in the reuse of discarded clothing, and OSAKA INSTITUTE OF FASHION will collaborate to launch the "Rethink Fashion Program," a contest-style program that aims to "rethink" the future of the fashion industry.

This project aims to create a sustainable industry by rethinking the structure of the fashion industry and the value that fashion holds, and by considering and implementing what kind of changes can be brought about in the coming era.

This project consists of two parts: ① a lecture program open to everyone, and ② an entry-based contest program.

In the lecture program (①), five lectures will be given by practitioners who are working on various challenges at leading companies in the sustainable field, such as Spiber Inc. and FABRIC TOKYO Inc.

In the contest program (②), teams will share the knowledge, thoughts, and concerns gained through attending lectures, and create new ideas related to their works and systems.

This program is open to anyone who wants to think about the future of fashion and take some kind of action, including students, working professionals, and the general public. Participants will receive lectures from practitioners, engage in discussions with other participants, and brainstorm new ideas. Through the cycle of "input" ⇒ "communication" ⇒ "output," new discoveries will be made and understanding will deepen.

[OSAKA INSTITUTE OF FASHION 's Basic Stance on SDGs]

At our school, our "SDGs actions" are synonymous with "education." High-quality education fosters "creative talent." Creative talent generates new value and creates "authentic fashion" that is cherished for a long time, or "business models" that can realize a sustainable society.

The "Rethink Fashion Program" perfectly aligns with our school's fundamental philosophy. Going a step further than traditional contests that limit themes such as "upcycling" or "remaking," this program encourages us to reconsider "how to confront" and "how to deal with" the numerous challenges we face, and to directly address these issues.
